In 1996, a man was convicted of murdering his wife and decapitating her in order to make identification more difficult. The man recently appealed his 60 year sentence on grounds that the state allowed false testimony and that the sentence was inappropriate and unconstitutional.
The man failed to provide any evidence that there was any incidence of perjury in his original trial. The judges also pointed out that the crime was “particularly heinous” and therefore deserving of the punishment.
The man handled his own appeal without legal aid. If you or someone you know is facing criminal charges, or appealing, contact the Milwaukee criminal defense lawyers of Kohler & Hart, LLP at 888-565-7597.
